Description

Character
Name: Cricketkit | Cricketpaw | Cricketleap
[Cricket] - His long legs and light-dusty coloring bear a slight resemblance to the insect.
[leap] - For his exceptional running and maneuvering skills.
Clan: WindClan
Age: 15 moons
Rank: Apprentice
Gender: Cis male
Appearance details: A tall, long-legged, almost spindly tom with mostly sleek fur, with the exception of particularly strange tufts on his rump, head and tail. His face is pointed and narrow, as is his body, and his eyes are bright amber.

History
[Kithood] - Cricketkit and his two sisters were born just as the river began to dry up. He and his siblings were very well off, as they inherited their mother's strength and did not immediately feel the effects of this terrible development. Though he was blessed with good health and a strong family, he was never able to see exactly how Clan life was before the territories became ridden with undernourishment and disease. As he grew up, he was constantly surrounded by rumors buzzing about, everyone feverishly discussing the most recent reports of how the lack of water was becoming more worrisome, and how the other Clans were being effected. Not long before he was apprenticed, the warriors of WindClan returned from a Gathering with grim news: SkyClan had become ridden with a terrible disease, and not only were their lives being threatened, but potentially the lives of every living creature in the forest. Cricketkit felt more eager than ever to become an apprentice, so that he could leave camp (with permission for once, as he had snuck off many times previously with his rambunctious sisters) and begin to do some real good.

[Apprenticeship] - About three moons before the Journey was made, Cricketpaw and his sisters were apprenticed. He was paired with Stoatpad, a young and patient warrior whom Cricketpaw had looked up to for quite a long time. He immediately found this to be a wonderful match, as he had always dreamed of being the fastest runner in all of WindClan, and Stoadpad himself was quick on his feet and would be able to teach him exactly what he had wanted to learn. Admittedly, he wound up giving his mentor a tough time, as his tendency to rush headlong into things clashed with Stoatpad's preference to think things through. Nonetheless, they were a motivated and energetic pair, and accomplished much when they worked together. Under Stoatpad's guidance, Cricketpaw trained as hard as he possibly could, and found himself to be an extremely swift cat, excelling in battle training and sprinting, which he proved to be particularly talented at, just as he had always hoped.

However fun their training was, it was pressed and did not last long. In the three moons leading up to Cricketpaw's apprenticeship and the beginning of the Great Journey, the drought extended to the lake and the Clans all found themselves to be suffering. Despite his best efforts to help around camp, Cricketpaw found himself to be useless in combating the disease that had now spread to his very own Clan. He stuck close to his family and mentor, fearing for them and their well-being, and through an immense stroke of luck, every one of them was able to avoid catching the terrible illness.

Finally, it was time to bid the forest goodbye and begin the Great Journey. Cricketpaw stayed as close to his family as ever, almost protectively, praying that they would be safe every step of the way. Training with Stoadpad, though, was his number one favorite activity, and as he found it even more important to prove his strength in these difficult times, he continued to train hard with his mentor even as they traveled. He proved time and time again to be swift and concise in battle, and would often challenge his mentor to race him along the Journey's path. Their bond strengthened and they became almost inseparable. One day, while scoping out an unexplored area with his sister and a few others, a feral dog forced its way along their path and unleashed its unbridled wrath on his dear sister Frogpaw, tearing the skin from the side of her face in a devastating blow that would result in her permanently blind in one eye. Anguished, he helped the other cats chase the rotten hound away from the traveling cats, and spent lots of time mourning over the close call that could have resulted in the death of his littermate and close friend. Instead, she had survived the encounter and was seemingly completely unfazed by it. Cricketpaw's delight at her persistence was difficult to conceal, and if possible, he began to spend even more time with his family and beloved mentor, whom he adores greatly.

About halfway through the Journey, it became quite clear that Cricketpaw and his sisters were ready to become warriors. They were all coming along beautifully, even Frogpaw, who hadn't let her injury slow her down. Cricketpaw himself was growing to be incredibly tall, due to his long and stilt-like legs, giving him a bit of a confidence boost. Curiously enough, however, their ceremonies were delayed, and have been to this day, despite his mentor's valiant attempts to convince Reedstar that they were ready. Their leader was insistent that they wait. He could guess what some of these reasons might have been; maybe it was too much to balance at once, maybe Reedstar wanted to see how they coped with the new territories first, maybe he was just too busy, maybe he had wanted to give all of the siblings their ceremonies at the same time so that Frogpaw didn't feel left out due to the delay her injury caused her. Either way, Cricketpaw's confidence is flourishing, and he almost feels slightly resentful that he's being told to wait so long to receive his warrior name.

Towards the end, as the Clans are growing ever closer to the Fjords, disaster struck as a hunk of rock came loose and began to hurdle towards the passing Cricketpaw on a steep ledge. At least, it could have been a disaster; proving to be a testament of their unbreakable bond, Stoatpad had thrown himself into harm's way to push his apprentice out from underneath the path of the rockslide. Stoatpad himself suffered no major injuries, but consequentially, a heavy rock had nicked his ear on its way down and caused the cartilage to break, earning him a characteristic flopping ear. Cricketpaw was so grateful for the save that he swore to never leave Stoatpad's side, his affection for his mentor soaring. Additionally, this caused Cricketpaw's siblings and mother to accept Stoatpad as family, as they had already been very close to him for a very long time, especially after his mothers had opted to stay behind in the lake territories due to their old age.

Presently, Cricketpaw has been absolutely thrilled at their new territory. He spends more time out of camp than inside of it, spending as much time as he possibly can simply wandering the colorful hills and breathing in the crisp ocean air. He feels more hopeful than he's ever been. He's infatuated with the ocean shore that borders their camp, as he had never really had much time to appreciate the enormous body of water that they had had in the old territories. He streaks through the colorful moor whenever he gets the chance, as the smell of the wildflowers and the ocean make him feel blissfully free; he's absolutely fallen in love with the landscape of his new home.

About
Personality:

+Reliable - Sturdy and loyal, once you earn his trust and respect, there's nothing he wouldn't do to support you.

+Intuitive - Cricketpaw has a spectacular knack for being able to sense when something isn't right. He may be able to detect the slightest changes in your mood, or in the weather, and set his mind on getting to the bottom of it immediately.

+Determined - It takes a great deal of weight to make him drop the fight. He's not quick to give up.

>Nosy - He's very interested in Clan affairs, but he does tend to be a bit gossipy.

>Impulsive - Cricketpaw is quick to act, a master of making snap decisions. However, he's not always right, and his obnoxious heroic flare sometimes pairs with this and tends to land him into trouble.

> Competitive - He loves a bit of healthy competition, as pushing his skills to the limit is one of his favorite things to do. He is known to get a bit carried away, though, and may develop serious resentment if beaten in a contest.

>Dodgy - If Cricketpaw has something to hide, good luck getting it out of him. He's as slippery as an eel when he wants to, and is talented in the act of avoiding your eye.

>Persistent - HE DOES NOT KNOW WHEN TO LET IT GO.

- Judgemental - He doesn't give the opposing team very much careful thought before he makes assumptions, especially when the opportunity presents itself.

-Reckless - He's known to throw caution into the wind if provoked or given enough incentive. This includes forgetting to watch his tongue, leaping into action too soon, and rushing to conclusions before proper evidence is presented.

-Defiant/Challenging - Admittedly, being this headstrong can be a plus in some cases, but he's almost stupidly so. He just doesn't know when to give it up, and this can get him into deep doo-doo.

Likes: Showing off his skills, racing across the open moor, Silverpelt, dew, nighttime, family.
Dislikes: Snakes, sharp pebbles and stones on the ground, gopher holes, feeling cramped, cats who are disloyal.

Other Information:
-His long legs give him an excellent advantage when it comes to streaking across the moor, as it enables him to move/travel at an exceptional speed.

-However, he lacks tracking ability.

-While he's not exactly gloomy, he isn't shitting rainbows, either. A bit of a realist.

-No one can deny that he can be a bit of a dumbass.
